Falchion Swords are 34 inches in all. These Falchion Swords have a medieval scimitar design and feature a single-edge, tempered high carbon steel blade. The blade, which is available either sharpened or unsharpened, is 28 inches in length, 1 ¾ inches wide and 3/16th of an inch thick. Both the guard and pommel are manufactured of steel. The grip is crafted of wood and features a leather cover. These Falchion Swords also include a genuine leather scabbard. They weigh approximately 3 pounds. The design of these swords is based upon swords wielded by medieval knights and soldiers used during the 13th century. The style is reminiscent of the Persian scimitar and the Chinese Dao. These swords are made to honor the patron saint of armies, soldiers and the military and use the design of the real Saint Maurice Sword that is housed in Vienna at the Weltliche Schatzkammer (Imperial Treasury). This famous sword was used during the coronation of Roman Emperors from Otto IV in 1198 to Emperor Karl I in 1916. This contemporary full tang version is hand forged of tough high carbon steel. The functional 33 inch blade is 1 ¾ inch wide and 3/16th inch thick. They have hand antiqued genuine solid brass fittings and engravings on the guard. This Oakeshott Type XII sword is fully tempered then peened over the pommel. The 30 inch 1085 high carbon steel blade is 1 7/8th inch wide and 3/16th inch thick. The wheel pommel is intricately cast brass with an antique finish and a red and black genuine leather wave pattern insert. The pommel is inscribed with AVE MARIA PLENA GRATIA. The intricately cast brass antique finished crossguard has Spanish inscriptions. DIOS ES VINCENTOR EN TOD and O DIOS ES VINCENTOR EN TODO A on the reverse side. The wooden grip is covered in genuine red leather and cross-hatched strips of real black leather and features brass tacks to assist with gripping.
